These terms explain how Hoekwil's digital town centre works and what we expect from everyone who uses it. By creating an account or posting anything on the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What the site is

Hoekwil is a community-run directory and noticeboard for the village of Hoekwil and its surrounding area. It is not a government service, estate agent, booking agency or marketplace. It is a place for locals and visitors to find information, share news and support nearby businesses.

2. Your account

To add a listing, post an event, special, service, marketplace ad or noticeboard item, you must register with a valid email address and confirm it. You are responsible for keeping your account details accurate and for any activity that happens under your account.

We may suspend or remove an account if it is used to post false, misleading, offensive or illegal content, or if it impersonates someone else.

3. Content you submit

You keep the rights to the words and images you upload, but you give us permission to display them on the site and in previews (such as map pop-ups and social cards). You confirm that you have the right to share any photo, logo or text you upload, and that it does not infringe on anyone else's copyright or privacy.

We may resize or reformat images so they load quickly on the web. We do not claim ownership of your original images.

4. Listings, claims and ownership

A listing belongs to the person who created it. Some listings may be marked as claimable. If a listing is your business or organisation, you can ask to claim it. An admin will review the request. Once approved, you become the owner and can edit the listing and add specials or photos. We may decline a claim if we cannot confirm your connection to the listing.

5. Prohibited content

You may not use the site to post content that is:

• unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory or discriminatory;
• spam, scams, pyramid schemes or deceptive advertising;
• sexually explicit, violent or otherwise inappropriate for a family-friendly community site;
• someone else's personal information without their permission;
• intended to damage, disrupt or interfere with the site or other users.

6. Moderation and removal

Site admins and custodians can edit, hide or remove any content that breaks these terms, looks inaccurate, or is no longer relevant. They can also unpublish a listing without deleting it. We aim to be fair, but we are not obliged to give a reason before removing content.

7. Disclaimer

Information on this site is provided by community members and is not guaranteed to be correct, complete or up to date. Always contact a business directly to confirm opening hours, prices, availability or emergency services. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by information on the site.

The site is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it running, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available or error-free.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If the changes are significant, we will note the new date at the top of the page. Continuing to use the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
